Hugo Pereira leads the championship after winning in
Estoril
After a successful weekend in Portimao, it was nice to
come back to my local track in Estoril and try to gain advantage of
my track knowledge and score some good points for the
championship.
Qualifying The
Lister Storm of English driver Bobby Verdon-Row wasn’t as fast as
it was in Portimao, and even dough he took pole position, the
difference was not as big as it was in the last race. Hugo managed
to stay in the front row in second position in front of the Porches
997 and the other Radical SR3.
Race one
Hugo managed a good start and kept second position by the first
corner. He started to mount a challenge on the leading car and
after a few laps, Hugo was able to get into the lead after the
Lister Storm driver could not avoid a mistake after some pressure
from the Radical driver. After the pit stops the Radical driver
joins the race in the lead and was able to control the chasing
drivers behind until an electrical problem started to affect the
performance of the engine. Hugo started losing ten seconds a lap
and could not avoid losing the lead of the race in the last three
laps. The Radical lasted until the end and Hugo was able to finish
the race in second position and setting the fastest lap of the race
which gave him important points for the championship.
Race two
The grid for the second race was the results from the first race,
which meant Hugo was starting again from the front row in second
place. An excellent start allowed Hugo to take the lead but soon
lost it to the Lister Storm. Hugo kept a god distance until the pit
stops and after the longer pits top from the Lister, Hugo rejoined
the race in the lead. This time the Radical driver did not want to
lose it and started to put in some very fast laps to gain an
advantage and manage to cross the finish line in the lead. A great
result that allowed the Radical driver to jump into the lead of the
championship.
Sportive regards,
Hugo Pereira
